A repeat win for FireFly as the leading growth company in the state

FireFly team at Utah 100FireFly Automatix announced today it was once again at the top of the 2017 Utah 100, MountainWest Capital Network (MWCN)’s annual list of the fastest-growing companies in Utah. FireFly Automatix ranked No. 1 out of 100 companies for the second year in a row. The company was honored at the 23rd annual Utah 100 Awards program, held at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City.

Describing FireFly’s niche, CEO Andrew Limpert said, “I call it a marriage between old steel manufacturing (with) high-technology robotics and software programs.”

“We’re pleased to honor FireFly as this year’s fastest-growing company in Utah,” said Reed Chase, chairman of MWCN’s Utah 100 committee. “This company has clearly seen incredible growth, and along with each of the Utah 100 companies, (has) continued to play a vital part in Utah’s economic success.”

Recipients of the Utah 100 were chosen by the percentage of revenue increase of each company between 2013 and 2017.

The AgTech group snags a coveted Utah Innovation Award for its advances in agricultural technology.

ProSlab 155The ProSlab 155 automated turf harvester by FireFly Automatix is the winner of the Utah Innovation Award in the category for Mechanical Systems / Chemical / Manufacturing. The 15th annual program seeks to recognize exciting technological advances happening in Utah and the companies that create them.

The Utah Innovation Awards program is organized by Stoel Rives LLP and the Utah Technology Council. The Selection Committee included more than 80 experts to evaluate nominations in eight categories. Winners were announced Thursday at an Awards Dinner at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center.

Will Decker, FireFly’s VP of Engineering, said, “We have applied technology that is traditionally found in factory automation in a clean, quiet, and stationary environment, and applied it to agriculture. We’ve found that our machine will burn 50-75% less fuel than a competitive technology with the same function.”

FireFly Automatix, manufacturer of automated turf harvesters, was named the fastest growing company in Utah at the 22nd annual Utah 100 Awards Program on Tuesday. The AgTech group claimed the top spot on MountainWest Capital Network’s Utah 100 list among a record number of nominations. The award is based on percentage of revenue growth and recognizes performance in arguably the hottest business climate in America.

“FireFly is at the cutting edge of one of the largest growth drivers in history: the transformation to an autonomous economy where machines do all the repetitive and labor-intensive work,” said CEO Andrew Limpert. “Our initial focus is in the AgTech sector, but we plan to expand to other autonomous applications over time. We are excited to explore the many growth opportunities in automation.”

FireFly Automatix, operating under the name FireFly Equipment, builds their harvesters in North Salt Lake and distributes them to turfgrass farms throughout the United States and Australia, with plans to enter new international markets.

“It is clear Utah is one of the hottest places in the country to start or run a business,” said Paul Skeen, chairman of the MWCN Utah 100 committee. “As a strong indicator, we had a record number of Utah companies vying for the 100 fastest growing companies in Utah.”
